WASHINGTON – Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP is pleased to announce that it has been selected as a recipient of the 2008 Workplace Excellence Award by the Rockville, Md.-based Alliance for Workplace Excellence. The mission of the Alliance is to position workplace excellence as a competitive advantage by recognizing Washington-area businesses that create healthy work environments through health and wellness programs, flexible work programs, family friendly initiatives, social responsibility, and growth and learning services. Katten and the other 2008 award winners will be honored at a June 19 luncheon at the North Bethesda Marriott Hotel and Conference Center.
Katten was the only Washington-area law firm to receive the 2008 Workplace Excellence Award. It was honored for its employee and family friendly initiatives and benefits, which include an in-home backup care program for children and adults/elderly, “flex” work schedules, subsidized gym memberships and a sabbatical program in which all associates who have completed five years of service at the firm are eligible for, and strongly encouraged to take, a one-month paid sabbatical. The firm also has innovative programs and policies that help female attorneys achieve balance in their personal and professional lives and thrive as practitioners.
“We are honored to be recognized for our ongoing efforts in creating the best possible work environment for our employees,” said Roger P. Furey, Managing Partner of Katten’s Washington office. “The legal business can often create high levels of stress for employees. By providing opportunities to maintain a balanced and healthy lifestyle, we try to reduce some of that stress. We believe this ultimately leads to a happier and more productive workplace.”
