W. Kenneth Davis Jr., a partner in the firm’s Health Care Practice, was quoted in an article in Imaging Economics on increased utilization of imaging technology and its correspondence with physician self-referrals. The article describes a recent study that concluded that self-referrals and licensing arrangements have caused a dramatic rise in these ancillary services. Mr. Davis agrees that physicians are looking for new revenue opportunities, but cautions against assuming that the recent spike in services is due entirely to financial considerations.
