Katten Chairman Gil Soffer was honored by Crain's Chicago Business on its list of 2024 Notable Leaders in Accounting, Consulting and Law. The individuals recognized by this accolade are "managing offices large and small, representing companies public and private," with some handling multibillion-dollar matters, as stated in the Crain's Chicago Business announcement.
Nominees must be serving in a leadership role, show work on significant cases and have practiced in their profession for at least 10 years. They must also live and work in the Chicago area while demonstrating leadership in professional organizations as well as civic and community initiatives.
Gil, who is the chief legal analyst for WLS-TV/Channel 7, was named to the list for his numerous professional wins and community involvements, including his three-year term as the compliance monitor for an international pharmaceutical company in one of the "most substantial Foreign Corrupt Practices Act resolutions to date," his role as an adjudications officer in the United Auto Workers monitorship to evaluate misconduct allegations, and his appointment to the Racial Justice Diversity Committee for the Northern District of Illinois in 2020. In 2021, Gil also led the Chicago Bar Foundation Investing in Justice Campaign.
