After a five-year hiatus, Crain’s Chicago Business brought back its “Who’s Who in Chicago Business” list. Chicago office managing partner and co-chair of the Litigation department Gil Soffer is one of only 16 attorneys featured on the list. Regarded as a “comprehensive field guide to power in Chicago,” the list features names from a broad range of industries who are considered to be “leaders making a difference in every corner of Chicago’s business, civic, cultural and philanthropic worlds.”

The profile notes Gil’s commitment to both the Chicago Bar Association and his appointment to the Racial Justice Diversity Committee for the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, which is working to explore ways to address racial disparities in the federal court. Looking back at his career, Gil stated, “My big break was getting hired at the US Attorney's Office in Chicago. That job gave me top-flight trial experience and great exposure to the best legal minds in the city. Not only did it open doors in my career that would otherwise have been shut, but it also led to an incredible opportunity to serve as associate deputy attorney general at the Department of Justice in Washington, DC.”

Our authoritative guide to Who's Who in Chicago Business is back,” Crain’s Chicago Business, January 23, 2023
