(CHICAGO) Katten announced today that Jonah Roth has joined its Investment Management and Funds group, operating under the firm's award-winning Financial Markets and Funds practice, in Chicago.

Roth formerly was General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at Teza Capital Management LLC, a Chicago-based investment management firm, where he advised on a broad range of legal, compliance and other matters. Prior to that, he was an attorney in the Investment Funds, Advisers, and Derivatives Practice group at Sidley Austin LLP in Chicago.

"Jonah is a sharp, creative attorney equipped with great instincts and the kind of top-shelf skills that make our interdisciplinary team a one-stop resource where some of the world's largest, most successful asset managers come to address their biggest legal needs," said Lance Zinman, Global Chair of Katten's Financial Markets and Funds (FMF) practice. "Jonah will help us continue handling with great success virtually everything our clients require, from advice on fund formation to unparalleled experience in algorithmic and high-speed trading, among many other things."

Roth's skill set fits well in Katten's funds group and will enhance the firm's leading quantitative and proprietary trading work, which continues to expand as Zinman is widely known for his deep experience representing industry giants, many of whom have sought his counsel since entering the space with start-up companies.

A long-established leader in the financial services arena, Katten's FMF practice has drawn recognition from a range of industry groups and media outlets. The team's expansive work with hedge funds helped Katten earn the distinction "Best Law Firm" during the HFM US Quant Awards 2021 virtual ceremony, honoring service providers who have demonstrated extraordinary skills and innovation. Zinman was recognized as a 2021 American Lawyer "Trailblazer," described as a financial services "agent of change."
