We are outraged by the senseless, brutal killing of George Floyd at the hands of police, yet another tragic example of deep-set racism in our society. This happening against the backdrop of a global pandemic that is disproportionately claiming the lives of people of color has made for extraordinarily challenging times giving rise to steadfast calls for action that put us at a pivotal point in American history.
We recognize the gravity of this moment and reiterate our unwavering rejection of racism, police brutality, bigotry and discrimination in any form. We continue to support the important work of groups that fight these injustices every day, and we are increasing our pro bono commitment to the Chicago Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights, the Texas Civil Rights Project and the Washington Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights as well as other groups.
Within our own walls, we remain committed to creating a more inclusive firm, where we all bring our different identities together to better serve our clients, each other and the broader community. We are engaging in deep conversations about race across our firm so that we can all have a better understanding of each other. We know this is imperative if we are to bring about real, lasting change.
