Law360 recently interviewed Securities Litigation Partner Gidon Caine about his career and decision to join Katten. The article noted that joining Katten allows him to collaborate again with Securities Litigation Co-Chair Bruce Vanyo. Gidon remarked, "This is an opportunity to work with Bruce Vanyo, who I worked with before, earlier in my career, and with the team that he built. This is an awesome group ... and an opportunity to continue to grow my practice. So for me, it seemed like a natural fit, and I was very excited to get the tap on the shoulder."

Gidon manages a broad spectrum of securities and corporate governance disputes in Silicon Valley. His work includes high-stakes shareholder class action lawsuits, stockholder derivative actions alleging breaches of fiduciary duty, and mergers and acquisitions litigation. "I find it intellectually stimulating. I think that's the best part of it. The other part of it is that I find the people who were doing this work and the people who I'm advising, I find them also to be interesting and thoughtful and trying to do the right thing."

Gidon has also represented corporations, their board of directors, officers, special committees, and other high-profile clients, particularly in the technology and life science sectors. He has handled internal and regulatory investigations by entities such as the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), venture fund disputes, and other complex commercial litigation.

"Very often, I'm dealing with a company in crisis. Government investigations commence, or there is a securities class action which names individuals. Imagine coming home and talking to your spouse or significant other about your day and starts off with 'I was sued for $30 billion,'" Caine said. "The ability to take someone from 'I was sued for $30 billion today' to 'I'm going to find a way out of this. Gidon and Katten are going to help me find a way out from underneath this' is actually, I think, a very, very good thing."
