Charlotte Real Estate partner Karen Nelson was named one of the 2015 "Leaders in the Law" by North Carolina Lawyers Weekly. In the profile, Karen discussed how the shortage of women role models in the legal profession can discourage other women from pursuing a career in law. As co-head of Katten's Women's Leadership Forum in Charlotte, she works to encourage other women attorneys at the firm. "As a mother of two young children," she said, "I strive to lead by example in my commitment to work-life flexibility and career development." Karen also discussed her goal to build a national real estate practice while remaining a strong advocate for Charlotte as a business destination. "Simply put, managing and expanding my practice while making sure that I have time for my growing family is my number one priority." ("Leaders in the Law 2015," October 2015)
