New York Partner and Real Estate Investment and Finance Chair Scott Vetri has been named among the 2025 "Ones to Watch — Industry Leaders" by the New York Real Estate Journal. The annual list spotlights the region’s industry leaders and their accomplishments, challenges faced and key insights.
In his honoree profile, Scott shared recent goals and their impact, including leading Katten's real estate department "through the unprecedented commercial real estate cycles caused by COVID," which reshaped his management approach. "This required swift adjustments in resource management, including hiring and retention," he said. "I learned the importance of balancing immediate needs with building a team that is resilient in the face of an uncertain future and poised for long-term success."
Scott also shared how he gives back to the community, describing his involvement with the Urban Land Institute (ULI), "one of the most influential organizations in commercial real estate," through the New York Mixed-Use Council and the ULI New York Awards Committee and Annual Gala. "ULI's diverse membership has provided opportunities to connect with senior leaders across the real estate community, including developers, lenders, architects, engineers and government administrators," Scott said. "[Its] programming also includes site tours of new projects and presentations by industry leaders."
Scott went on to advise new leaders to lead by example, "valuing the input and experiences of mentors and predecessors." His recognition also included a quote from Senior Vice President and Chief Counsel at Empire State Realty Trust Susanne Lieu, lauding Scott as "an exceptional real estate attorney" with an "in-depth understanding of the law and pragmatic business judgment allowing him to deliver balanced, insightful guidance." Susanne also commended Scott for his timely responsiveness and constant availability, which "reassures clients, making him one of the best in the field."
