Katten is thrilled to announce that Insolvency and Restructuring Partner and Global Chair Steven J. Reisman will be honored at the UJA-Federation of New York's (UJA) Harvey R. Miller and Leonard M. Rosen Annual Restructuring Event on the evening of May 22, 2025, at the Marriott Marquis in New York City. Steven will be recognized for his leadership in the legal profession, the community and in philanthropy. Steven’s actions over his 35-year legal career exemplify the very best of kindness, generosity and professionalism, and in giving to friends, family, colleagues, the community and even strangers.

The Firm is proud to support UJA — the world's largest local philanthropy — caring for people in need of all backgrounds, responding to crises and building a more inclusive, united Jewish community in New York and around the world. Through resources from close to 50,000 donors, UJA has been helping people in need, inspiring a passion for Jewish life and learning, and strengthening global Jewish communities for over 100 years.

Steven has been a member of the UJA Restructuring Committee for over a decade and is widely regarded in the restructuring industry for his representation of boards of directors, independent directors, and special committees conducting independent investigations and considering liability management transactions, as well as his central role in some of the largest out-of-court and Chapter 11 bankruptcy cases of the past decades. In his career spanning more than 30 years, he has also acted as counsel for Chapter 11 debtors, conflicts counsel and special counsel; regularly represented private equity sponsors, purchasers of distressed assets, and official and ad hoc creditors’ committees; and worked on multiple cross-border insolvency matters.

Steven is a devoted husband and adoring father to three children, as well as friend to many. He is also known as "Two Dollar Steve" by many in the entertainment business and throughout the legal community and the music world. Steven always strives to share his good fortune with others, whether it is through his philanthropic work or by handing out $2 bills to friends, colleagues, and anyone and everyone he meets, including complete strangers.
