Health Care partner Michael Callahan will present "Successful PSO Protections: Lessons Learned from Ingalls Memorial Hospital" webinar to the MHA Keystone Center PSO on Thursday, October 18 at 1:00 p.m. EDT.

The Illinois Appellate Court recently reversed a trial court ruling in Daley vs. Ingalls Memorial Hospital, which ordered Ingalls Memorial Hospital to produce documents collected within its Patient Safety Evaluation System (PSES) and reported to a certified Patient Safety Organization (PSO). The appellate court ruled that Ingalls Memorial Hospital had appropriate PSES policy documentation, and the full privilege of Patient Safety Work Product under the Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Act (PSQIA) applied, which meant the documents were protected and did not have to be given to the plaintiff. Michael will review the PSES, provide recommendations for designing a PSES to maximize privilege protections under the PSQIA, and discuss how to prepare detailed affidavits.
