CHICAGO - Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP is pleased to announce that three of its attorneys will be honored by Best Lawyers for their extraordinary career accomplishments during the publisher’s 25th anniversary celebration this year. Mal L. Barasch, Donald H. Siskind and Herbert S. Wander have been listed in The Best Lawyers in America guide since it was established in 1983. Mr. Barasch and Mr. Siskind currently serve as counsel in the firm’s New York office, and Mr. Wander is a partner in Katten’s Chicago office.
Mr. Barasch founded the firm’s Trusts and Estates Practice and served as the group’s chairman until 1995. He has practiced law for more than 45 years, handling a broad range of estate and tax planning matters. He is a frequent author on estate tax issues, and is listed as a trusts and estates specialist in The Best Lawyers in America.
Mr. Siskind concentrates his practice in real estate law and has been involved in some of the largest and most complex real estate transactions in the country, including the 1987 sale of The Cadillac Fairview Corporation Limited. This transaction, together with the separate sale of the U.S. urban and industrial property divisions, was, at the time, the largest real estate transaction ever consummated.
Mr. Wander is a member of Katten’s Corporate Practice and concentrates his practice in corporate governance, securities law, and mergers and acquisitions. He has been the chief legal architect for many major M&A transactions, both negotiated and hostile. He also represents the independent directors and audit committees at numerous public companies.
Best Lawyers will honor all of the attorneys who have been listed in its publication since 1983 at a three-day celebration in April. Held in Atlanta, the event will feature an address from Carolyn Lamm, president-elect of the American Bar Association, and attendees will engage in panel-led discussions about the changes in the legal profession and education system over the last 25 years.
