Bruce Vanyo, head of the firm's Securities Litigation and Enforcement practice, has been named a Litigation Trailblazer by The National Law Journal for his work in helping to change the practice of litigation through the use of innovative legal strategies. One of the many important trails he has helped to blaze was the creation of provisions to the Private Securities Litigation Reform Act, in which he drafted the heightened pleading requirements and safe harbor provisions. Looking ahead, Bruce sees areas of change in the life sciences industry, which has recently faced numerous securities-related lawsuits. "None of these companies guarantee successful trials or FDA approval," he said. "At the pleading stage, I try to show that they should not be liable for securities fraud, if their products don't work out. I want them to be encourage to pioneer beneficial drugs."
