Volunteers of Legal Service (VOLS) has recognized Affordable Housing and Community Development associate Asia Archey Riddick and Employee Benefits associate Matthew Rutchik with the VOLS Pro Bono Dean's List Award. The two will be among the honorees featured by VOLS on its website, in its newsletter and on social media in October during National Pro Bono Month.
Asia was chosen because of her "exceptional service" to the VOLS Incarcerated Mothers Law Project in 2023. Matthew was selected for his efforts with the VOLS Benefits Law Project in 2023. VOLS noted that Asia and Matthew "made a tremendous impact in helping VOLS' clients — low-income and under-resourced New Yorkers — access legal support and obtain dignity, security, and opportunity."
Asia and Matthew were also included on the VOLS Pro Bono Dean's List, so named in memory of William J. Dean, VOLS' former executive director of 25 years, who served as a pro bono champion and thought leader throughout his career.
