David Halberstadter, deputy general counsel for the firm's four California offices, and Los Angeles – Century City Litigation associate Joanna Hill secured the dismissal of a high-profile copyright case for their clients Starz, CBS Television, Power creator Courtney Kemp and executive producer Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson. The plaintiffs, Tribulation of a Ghetto Kid author Larry Johnson and editor Blake Keller, alleged that the Starz series Power was based on a manuscript they sent Jackson in 2004. Judge Manuel Real of the US District Court for the Central District of California found the plaintiffs' allegations of access to be speculative and dismissed the complaint as "baseless," stating that the plaintiffs failed to show that the plot or characters shared any similarities under copyright law.
