Laura Keidan Martin and Kimberly Smith were both named "Chicago's Notable Women Lawyers" by Crain's Chicago Business for their respective contributions to the legal industry. Laura, national co-chair of Katten's Health Care practice and chair of the firm's Women's Leadership Forum, is recognized for her mentorship of women attorneys. In addition to helping secure the firm's position on Working Mother magazine's 100 best companies list, Crain's cites her work as lead partner on dozens of matters, including the successful conclusion of a hospital acquisition following an FTC investigation.

Noting her leadership in an "area of law where women in power are rare," Crain's highlights Kim's role as co-chair of Katten's Private Equity practice, serving as lead lawyer on leveraged buyouts, M&A and recapitalizations on significant deals. She also counsels executives on compensation and equity-related matters and is called on by media to comment on PE trends. For more than 15 years, she's helped drive improvement at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago; she's currently on the corporate board. ("Chicago's Notable Women Lawyers," July 30, 2018)
