In an article for Authority Magazine, Private Credit partner Shana Ramirez discussed what led her to a career in law, identified her three ingredients in her formula for success, and shared the five traits necessary for becoming a top attorney in her field of law.
Topping Shana's list of success ingredients is "enthusiasm," even when things looked bleak in 2009 when she graduated law school mid-recession.
"There is no doubt that a career in Big Law can be grueling at times but I was so grateful to have the opportunity to practice law that I was determined to be successful and volunteered to work on as many matters as I could to gain experience," Shana said.
Shana noted that she genuinely enjoys her practice and recently launched Katten's Fund Finance practice as a new service for clients.
Among the five characteristics necessary for developing her practice, Shana cited "practicality."
"To succeed as a Private Credit attorney — any attorney, really — you must look at problems from a business perspective and identify solutions," she said. "A transactional practice is all about mitigating the risks your clients really care about."
