(CHICAGO) Katten announced today that a handful of partners have been promoted to leadership roles, heading up various practices across the firm.
"In an effort to ensure responsible firm stewardship, we are committed to periodically rotating leadership opportunities and responsibilities within the firm," said Katten Chairman Roger P. Furey. "This extraordinary group of talented attorneys and proven leaders are challenged with growing their respective practices while overseeing the first-rate service and superb legal work that our clients have come to expect."
These are the new leadership appointments:
- Financial Markets and Regulation — Daniel J. Davis and Carl E. Kennedy will serve as new co-chairs of the practice effective January 1. Davis is a former General Counsel at the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and Kennedy previously served as a regulator with the CFTC and former senior in-house counsel at a large investment bank. Together they are highly skilled attorneys who have an excellent grasp of the regulatory landscape, specifically involving derivatives products and cryptoassets.
- Affordable Housing and Community Development — Louise Carroll and Glenn S. Miller co-lead the new practice, which launched in November. A well-known figure in the affordable housing industry after serving as the Commissioner of New York City's Department of Housing Preservation and Development, Carroll brings a depth of knowledge regarding the industry's regulatory framework. Miller, a tax lawyer, has a national reputation in the areas of affordable housing, real estate investment trusts (REITs) and federal tax credits.
