About Seth M. Messner

Seth Messner represents borrowers, lenders, collateral managers, rating agencies, credit enhancers and other parties in a wide array of domestic and international financing transactions.

Broad experience in structured finance

Seth handles a variety of structured finance transactions including residential mortgage backed securities (RMBS), asset-backed securities (ABS), single family rentals (SFRs), whole business securitizations (WBS), property assessed clean energy (PACE), collateralized loan obligations (CLOs) and commercial real estate CLOs (CRE CLOs). His practice involves the structuring of credit facilities, securitizations, credit enhancement transactions and warehouse facilities. Through his representation of rating agencies, Seth has a broad and unique perspective on a wide variety of securitization transactions.

Seth is a frequent lecturer on issues relevant to the securitization industry including a wide range of ABS and RMBS matters.

Before joining Katten, he worked for the US Department of State in New Delhi, India and Colombo, Sri Lanka. He also worked in the general counsel's office of the Student Loan Marketing Association (Sallie Mae) in Reston, Virginia, and for the Peace Corps in Senegal, West Africa.
