When it comes to representing those in the sports industry, Katten attorneys have earned Gold.
The Sports Business Journal named four attorneys to its "Power Players: Outside Counsel" list at the gold level because of the impact their representation has on diverse matters for high-profile clients.
"Katten's work and profile are on the rise as its representation extends across MLB, MLS, the NBA and NHL and includes team sales, venue financing and naming rights, and complex real estate transactions," Sports Business Journal notes in its October 25 issue.
Called out were:
- Adam R. Klein, a partner in the Sports and Sports Facilities practice in Chicago. Adam was specifically recognized for representing the Phoenix Suns in their naming-rights agreement for Footprint Center, and the Utah Jazz for the sale of the team.
- Daniel H. Render, a partner in the Sports and Sports Facilities practice in Los Angeles. Daniel was noted in part for negotiating on behalf of the Brooklyn Nets and Barclays Center the SeatGeek ticketing agreement.
- Benzion J. (Benny) Westreich, a partner in Real Estate in Los Angeles.
- Jason R. Gorczynski, a partner in Real Estate in Chicago.
Benny and Jason were recognized for their work with the Golden State Warriors, Sacramento Kings, and other NBA and MLS teams regarding the impact of Covid-19 (and the resulting rescheduling or cancellation of games) on venue financings. The firm also was noted for its representation of the Los Angeles Clippers with respect to the financing and naming rights of their new home arena, the Intuit Dome, and the Seattle Kraken in becoming the 32nd NHL expansion franchise and the renovation of their home arena, Climate Pledge Arena.
